Book Tour

I'm going on tour.

You know when people make a joke for your autograph when they want you to sign the credit card slip?
Well, lately I’ve been straight blushing when that happens because my book tour is coming up and I’m going to be signing my name on books for real--I feel like Drake.

I’m here to invite you personally to 4 book launch events in the USA and Canada, but first I have something to confess—the first story I ever published was in Grade 3.

It was about a hamster named Harvey with three wishes (his wishes were a diamond ring, a satin pillow, and world peace if you were wondering) that got published in a collection called “Stepping Stones”.

You don’t get book tours when you’re in Grade 3—so I’ve been waiting a fuck of a long time for you to come party with me.

This is a moment I have been waiting for my entire life.

I remember shitting a brick when someone told me authors make 15% off of books but I knew this day would come, anyway, because writing is my dharma—it’s why I am here.

I told my publisher it would take 3 months, and it took 2 years for me to finish my first book and compilation of poetry “This is for the women who don’t give a fuck” because this is it.

These pages are going to outlive me—they will be read by my children and my grandchildren and their children.

This book will end up in a Goodwill for like $2 bucks and 100 years from now someone is going to pick it up, look at the title, laugh and go, “What a sassy minx”.

I am so proud of this book. I am so excited for you to meet each page, and hopefully me in September and October.

I have crafted 4 events—Encinitas, LA, Toronto and Vancouver.

These evenings will be a reflection of me—I’m not going to read pages of my book from a chair in front of you like some untouchable (boring).

I’m not going to do spoken word (I tried to take lessons but ended up liking singing more then I like spoken word).

I will share slabs of my heart with you that you haven’t heard before.

I will tell you why I wrote certain poems, where I was and what they mean to me.

I will answer questions in a Q + A portion that you have about this book or about my journey.

I will be signing books (squeal) and giving my famous Robinson hugs (I give the best damn hugs you’ll ever know).

At some of these events expect a screening of my surfing and poetry film “I am a woman of distinction”.

At some of these events expect booty shaking and boozy punch drinking.

At all of these events, come to reflect, connect and celebrate with me.

-Janne.
