I can't stand the amount of plastic surgery happening in our world today--it breaks my heart. Most plastic surgery/body crap comes from believing we will be more worthy with ____________.
Do you actually need a nose job? Or do you need to heal the shame you have from when that kid at your school when you were 5 teased you about how big it is?
I created this shirt because our daughters are watching and listening. There are too many women still showing the generations beneath us that beautiful needs to be bought, and confidence is external.
The conversation I want to have with this is--Are we doing the work to love ourselves or are we just buying the body/face we think will get us love?
Let's stop buying our children nose jobs. Let's stop telling girls that being pretty is the most valuable thing they can be.
Fuck that--let's wear joy. Let's wear CEO. Let's wear our self-love in our wrinkles from laughing because we have connected to a well of power and love so deep in our belly we are unstoppable.
"This, this is about my own some-day daughter. When you approach me, already stung-stayed with insecurity, begging, “Mom, will I be pretty? Will I be pretty?,” I will wipe that question from your mouth like cheap lipstick and answer no.
The word pretty is unworthy of everything you will be, and no child of mine will be contained in five letters. You will be pretty intelligent, pretty creative, pretty amazing, but you will never be merely “pretty.” -Katie Makkai
